Laminated Glass Block, Rating "EIW"
Purpose. Laminated fire-rated glass of class EIW for partitions, doors and escape routes — where integrity, thermal insulation and radiant heat-flux limitation are all required simultaneously.
Construction and properties. Laminated glass with a silicate gel interlayer that, on heating (around 120 °C), expands, turns opaque and forms a heat-insulating, light-blocking barrier. Class EIW: E — integrity, I — thermal insulation (temperature rise on the unexposed face not exceeding 140 °C average / 180 °C local), W — limitation of radiant heat-flux density (not exceeding 3.5 kW/m² at 0.5 m). Typical ratings: EIW15, EIW30, EIW45, EIW60.
Governing standards. GOST 30247.4—2022 (test method, limit states E/I/W), GOST 33000-2014; structurally — GOST 30826-2014 (laminated glass) (complies with Russian national standards, mandatory for the Russian market).
Points to note. Gel-filled glass is considerably heavier and thicker than standard laminated glass — factor this into the frame load and fixing method. Check the UV stability of the gel composite.
