Fire-Resistant Glass, Rating "E"
Purpose. Fire-rated glazing of class E (integrity) — fire-rated windows and non-load-bearing external (facade) walls, where only integrity must be maintained, with no restriction on heating of the unexposed face.
Construction and properties. Class E means the glass does not allow flame or combustion products to pass through openings or cracks for the specified time; the insulating capacity is not regulated (the unexposed face may heat up). Typical ratings: E15, E30, E45, E60, E90, E120 (minutes of standard fire exposure).
Governing standards. Test method for structures — GOST R 53308-2009; test method for flat glass — GOST 33000-2014 (complies with Russian national standards, mandatory for the Russian market).
Points to note. Class E does NOT limit the temperature rise on the unexposed face — in areas of continuous occupancy (escape doors, partitions) class EI or EIW is required, not class E alone. The fire-resistance rating is a property of the assembled structure (frame + glass + seals).
Compliance with the updated GOST. From 1 November 2025, Amendment No.1 to GOST 30698-2014 is in effect: it extends the scope of application of fire-resistant glass, clarifies the methods for checking appearance and protection class, and introduces a requirement for rounded edges with radius R≥4 mm to guard against thermal shock and micro-cracking (this complies with the updated Russian national standard, mandatory for the Russian market). All UNIALGLASS products are edge-processed with a radius of R≥4 mm.
