Fire-Resistant

Purpose. Insulating glass units incorporating fire-resistant glass for transparent fire-rated structures — windows, facades, partitions where a fire-resistance rating is required.

Construction and properties. Fire-resistant glass is used as a component within the IGU formula (standard outer pane + fire-resistant laminated inner pane). Classes — E (integrity) for windows and facades; EIW (integrity + thermal insulation + limited heat flux) for partitions and escape routes. Typical ratings — E15…E60, EIW15…EIW60.

Governing standards. Test method for assembled structures — GOST R 53308-2009 (updated equivalent of GOST 30247.4-2022); test method for flat glass — GOST 33000-2014 (complies with Russian national standards, mandatory for the Russian market).

Points to note. The fire resistance of an IGU is a property of the entire assembly (frame + glass + seals), certified as a unit; the rating of an individual pane cannot be applied to the finished product without assembly-level testing. See the "Fire-Rated Glazing" section for details.
