Switchable Transparency "Smart Glass"

Purpose. Laminated glass with electrically switchable transparency (PDLC technology) — meeting rooms, medical and office partitions, display cases, private zones. When voltage is applied the glass switches between "frosted" and "clear".

Construction and properties. Laminated glass with a PDLC film (liquid crystals in a polymer matrix) between the glass panes. Power supply — low-voltage AC (typically 36–65 V, depending on the film). Response time — seconds. The load-bearing glass composite complies with GOST 30826-2014 as standard laminated glass.

Governing standards. There is no dedicated GOST for smart glass. The load-bearing composite — GOST 30826-2014 "Laminated glass"; the electrical part — general electrical-safety requirements (GOST 12.1.019, Russian electrical installation rules) (complies with Russian national standards, mandatory for the Russian market).

Points to note. In the product datasheet, clearly separate: the load-bearing glass is certified under GOST 30826-2014, while the electrical part follows electrical-safety requirements. Practical risks to check: compatibility of the product size with the PDLC film roll width, quality of the perimeter busbar, and clouding/delamination if installation temperature limits are not observed.
